Birdsong radio

The February days are still dark, weather dank and plants dormant. Winter’s grip is unshakeable; my bones need heat after venturing out. If, like me, you start to hanker for a perceptible Spring, and seek hope from seed catalogues, the peeking daffodil tips, an energetic blackbird, then birdsong radio might be for you.

Several channels are available, transporting the fullness of Spring to the kitchen or bath or sofa. As I write the practice garden stands stock still, the neighbouring hawthorn harbouring the occasional coaltit. But the air echoes with woodpigeon, nuthatch and green woodpecker from my computer. Looking at the garden now, it feels readied for the performance to come. It aches for it. And so do I.
